The Cultural Arts Center

Carry the culture forward.

New Orleans culture is not kept in a case, it is kept in practice. Our cultural wing hosts workshops, talks, youth programs, and heritage gatherings that put instruments in hands, stories in the air, and the next generation on the bandstand.

Why It Matters

Culture lives where it is taught.

Creole music carries centuries of history: French, African, Caribbean, and American threads braided into something only New Orleans could make. That inheritance survives one way, by being handed over, in person, in rooms like this one.

Don Vappie's children, Sean and Monique, lead the cultural mission as they do the rest of the venue. The promise is simple: keep the hand-off going, with serious teachers, open doors, and programming priced so no one is turned away.

Every tradition is one untaught generation from silence.
